Meet The Counselor
Tami Phillips has been the school counselor at Sudley Elementary School for 3 years.  Ms. Phillips received her Master of Education degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  In 2008, Ms. Phillips relocated to this area from Hanover County, Virginia. 

Ms. Phillips looks forward to serving the Sudley community another year.  Stop by and visit the counseling department which is located in room 220.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school counselor at

Mission Statement
The school counseling department seeks to empower each student to reach his or her highest potential.  A safe and caring learning environment is emphasized, while fostering the development of relationships and mutual respect within the school community.
 
 
School Counseling Philosophy Statement
 
The professional school counselor believes:
  • Each student can reach his or her fullest potential with guidance and support.
  • Each student is a valuable and respected asset of the school community.
  • Each student shall have access to a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate counseling program which addresses his or her academic, career, and personal/social needs.
The professional school counselor will:
  • Actively address the needs of all students
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of the counseling program and make changes when needed.
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and community stakeholders to enhance student success.
  • Abide by ethical standards set forth by the American School Counselor Association.
  • Regularly seek professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and competency.

Bully Prevention Assembly
We will have two assemblies on Wednesday, November 2nd to kickoff our bully prevention activities for the year.  This assembly combines magic, comedy, and theater with an important message about bullying.

9:20-The assembly begins for K, First, and Second Grade
10:15-The assembly begins for Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade

Walk-A-Thon 2011
Please return pledge sheets along with your donations to Ms. Phillips by Friday, October 14th.  This year donations will be given to support the Walk the Walk Foundation of Maryland.  This organization donated school supplies and backpacks to help us start a wonderful school year.
